Agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy. Agriculture and its activities are mostly depends upon weather parameters. In this scenario weather based agricultural bulletin may create an effort to help the farming community to improve their decision making ability The RMSE value of rainfall was recorded 22.47 and observed rms value of maximum temperature and minimum temperature was recorded 0.63 and 0.86 after analyzing the forecasted and observed data from 01.04.2016 to 31.03.2017. From the economic point of view the weather related agro met advisory can minimize the cost of cultivation and also improve the crop production technology and animal husbandry. Weather plays a crucial role in determining the success of agricultural productivity. Crops are mainly dependent upon weather to provide life-sustaining food materials. Livestock are also dependent upon weather for their comfort, productivity and fodder. Adverse weather conditions can cause severe production losses, especially if experienced during critical stages of growth, lactation and reproduction causing severe economic losses to individual farmers and to the national economy. The economic benefits of exiting Agro metrological Advisory System of the Indian Metrological Department, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India( The Gramin Krishi Mausam Seva-GKMS) are well established as per the study of the National Council of applied Economic Research(NCAER), 2015. The of this seminar meet is to provide an overview of effects the purpose individual/combined elements of weather (solar radiation, temperature, precipitation, humidity and wind) have on the physiology and production of animals.
Following are the major objective of the seminar sessions-
- To provide information on Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa Of MOES, its benefit and channel to get information related to weather forecasting.
- To collate the exiting knowledge on weather- livestock relationship in different agro climate zones to identify weather sensitive critical stages.
- Breed specific model development for different agro-climate zones.
- Asses the availability of weather forecast at desired resolution in space and time. Aware about the role of Ministry of Earth sciences in weather forecasting and welfare schemes for farmers.
- Discuss the possible mechanisms for integration of weather based advisories for animal husbandry sector into the exiting Agro metrological Advisory System of the India Metrological Department, Ministry of Earth sciences.
- Provide climate protective actions required for agriculture.
- To provide best suggestions by experts persons to farmers for climate protection and need of agromet services.
- To register the farmers for Agriculture Metrology Department and give knowledge about AAS Bulletin, District level forecast, SMS advisory, Agromet Centers etc. Register farmers on IMD website of MOES for getting SMS alert in local language related to weather forecasting other related agromet issues.
- To make action plan for the sustainability.
- To write the slogans on the wall related to the subject matter.
- Promote farmers for seasonal farming on commercial agriculture.
- To form committee comprising responsible authority and volunteer for
- Surveillance an concerning subject matter.
The organization has organized seminars and awareness programs on “Gramin Krishi Mausam Sewa” (GKMS) in 04 Blocks of Barabanki district with assistance from the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India. These programs were organized to create awareness among farmers to reduce risks in weather-based agriculture and to increase agricultural production based on weather advice. Programs were organized in the seminar in coordination with scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Haidergarh, Barabanki, and chief scientists of India Meteorological Department (IMD), State Agricultural Meteorological Service Center, Lucknow and District Agriculture Officer and Deputy Agriculture Director, Barabanki. Farmers’ clubs, self-help groups, community leaders, village level departmental workers and stakeholders participated in the seminar/awareness program. In the seminar/awareness programs, Shri Satish Chandra Sharma, Honorable Minister of State, Food and Supply Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Angad Kumar Singh, Honorable Member of Legislative Council, Uttar Pradesh addressed the inaugural sessions of the programs. Farmer awareness programme on climate change-
The organization is conducting various awareness programs to make farmers aware and to provide technical information for progressive and modern farming in Barabanki District. With the help of NABARD, 50 self-help groups of rural women farmers have been formed by the organization. The women of the group have been given information about women’s participation in agriculture and means of improved livelihood. Special awareness and advocacy programs are conducted by the organization for women and child safety. Scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra are invited and farmers are motivated to do crop protection and modern farming by giving them information. Expert person told the farmers about pradhan mantri fasal bima yojna and various crop insurance schemes and insurance claim. Different type of books and magazine on agriculture to the farmers, and many other farmers helping task are implemented required for farmer and agriculture development. How to prepare burning compost and infant killer they are also trained for this. Farmers are informed about various beneficial government schemes so that they can improve their living also. Effect of our hard work in shown in form of some farmer club’s members live hood improvement by increment in grow of harvest. We also provide different kind of training programme to the farmers so that they can improve their life style also. He also explained about the role of forecasting of weather in agriculture.
